Monday...different.

I´m still in Casa Grande with the same
companion. Yay! I was hoping for this so
I´m excited. But, all of my leaders are
leaving. My two zone leaders and my
district leader. Which means I´ll get alot
of new people to learn alot of new stuff
from. I´m excited.

I don´t know what to write and I don´t have
alot of time. Sorry I´ll say it now, this
is going to be short. I am working with
families that I´m really excited about.
This last transfer was alot of work and
I think that this transfer is going to
show the results. It´s going to be
awesome!!! Different but good. Well,
really really short. I love you guys all
so much. I´ll send a longer one next week
full of lots of fun stuff. Love ya!
Love,
Shelle

Oi loved ones!

First things first, I hope that everyone is well and having
lots of fun in the states. I´m sure the weather is still really
cold there. It seems to get alot colder in January and
February if I remember right. The Lord gave me a big
blessing by putting me in Casa Grande cause it doesn´t
seem to be too hot here. Everyone keeps asking me if
it´s miserably hot here for me and I really haven´t been
too bad. The say that January and February are the
nastier months for the heat but I havn´t complained
since I got in this area. Lol! It really isn´t too bad. Even
with the fact that I´m walking around all day. I´ve had
more rainy days than sunny days.

I love my area lots and lots. We have transfers next week
so that probably means that I´ll get yanked out and thrown
in the middle of misery again. Lol, Just kidding. I don´t think
I´ve hit misery yet. And if I got anywhere close to it, it was
only because of the nasty cold weather I expirienced when I
got to Brazil. But I think that I will stay in this area for a
while yet.

So, I have difficulties staying awake during church. I sleep
fine but I think because I don´t exercise in the morning I
just can´t stay awake. But I always nod off. This last Sunday
I thought I did pretty good with not nodding off. It only
happened a couple times. But after Sacrament meeting
the piano player came up to me and commented on the
fact that I was sleeping during church. And I´m pretty sure
that everyone noticed that was on the stand. Bishop gave
a talk and later when I shook his hand he had a huge grin
on his face that said, "Funny American that can´t stay awake."
Needless to say, I´m determined to stay awaked this Sunday.
I will bite down on hot peppers if I have to but I will stay awake.

One last thing before I go. My Pday is being moved. Monday
is the day. The Area President decided to move the day and
so that´s what is happening. So don´t forget me and send me
emails before Monday so I can continue feeling loved. Lol!

Love you all lots and lots and I´m grateful for your support and everthing.

Love,
Shelle

My umbrella is worthless...I need a knew one

Oi all! Hope everyone is great! Thanks for your love and
support!
I just want to tell you a little about my past Saturday.
It started with me waking up and doing everything
normal but 8:57 we left the house to get our hair cut.
(It was the only day we could do this) By 9:23 we were
back in the house and I was wondering what was
going through my head to make me want to get my
hair cut by a Brasilian. In all actuality I just wanted a
trim but I got a cut. It took her longer to wash my
hair than to cut it. Lol! Life goes on right?
After that I went to make copies for the English
class I would give later that day. I was in a rush
cause I was running late and I left without paying
the guy and he didn´t say anthing. I didn´t realize
it until I went to buy tape at another place and
didn´t have my money. So I went to my English
class and that was an expirience that can only get
better with time. But I went back after the class
and paid the guy so all is well.

We had two people that were planning to give
lessons with us and both of them fell through.
As did all of ourappointments. All is well, we
found one of our investigator families at home
and decided to visit them. We started our
lesson and we were going to talk about the
Plan of Salvation. Then the rain started. We
were shouting to be heard which wasn´t
really inviting the spirit and I wasn´t
sure what to do. Then the neighbor came
in and said that the corridor was flooding.
So we went out to look and sure enough, it
looked like their house was going to flood.
Huh, well...Let´s pray...It was amazing,
Sister Da Silva prayed and asked that their
house be safe and nothing happen to it. I
though she was crazy to ask for that as the
other house had already started flooding.
By the time the prayer ended our way to
leave was flooded with water close to knee
high. We decided to stay and get buckets
to help get rid of the water. Close to 15
minutes later the water started to lower
and so we could think again. Amazingly
enough, our investigators house was fine.
Just enough water entered to mop the floor
a bit. Her neighbors house flooded close to
8 inches. Man I felt like a war victim walking
out of there. There were tons of people that
had come to watch and me and my comp
were walking out of there looking like
drowned rats I´m sure. Lol! But it was all good
and I think the family is a little more excited
about hearing our message after we helped
them. (The dad couldn´t do much cause he
had shoulder surgery recently.)

Anyways, It was a fun day. Broke up the
monotony and that was the closest I´ve
come to swimming in the last 5 months
so it was good. Lol!

Other than that I´m healthy and happy and the
language is still coming along. My companion
wants to make a dictionary of all the words that
I make up trying to sound like I know Portuguese.
It´s a little pathetic. Lol!

I hope everyone is liking school and work
again after the Holidays and I hope you all
aren´t freezing to death. I´m sweating off all
the weight that I gained this winter. Either
that or I´ve got a worm. Only time will tell. Lol!
Love you all lots and lots! Peace out.
Love,
Shelle

Happy New Years!

I´m sure that everyone had a great and excited New Year´s
Celebration! MJ and HE even beat mine with there quiet
movie night. I was in bed asleep by a little after 10:30 only
to be woken up at midnight by fireworks going off right
outside my window. I found out that night that I can keep
my calm in the middle of a bombing raid and fall back
asleep within 5 minutes. My companions weren´t so lucky.
I guess the fireworks were pretty bad for about 30 minutes
or so. I´ve been blessed to be able to sleep through anything...
especially since my companion snores. Lol
The partying for the New Year was the next day. Our
Pday was moved to Friday so we had a bbq and played soccer
which was lots of fun. Maybe when I come home I´ll have
learned some sweet foot work skills. I´m begining to
realize how fat and out of shape I´m getting. Yoga just
doesn´t do the same thing as running does. Lol! But my
companion said that she will run with me in the mornings
if we starts slow. Starting tomorrow we´re going to try to
loose our round shapes and get healthier shapes.

We got to go to the temple today. It was great. We weren´t
suppose to get to go until next transfer but because Sister
Pradera can go once a month but she can´t go by herself
we got to go along with her. But the thing is she and Sister
Vieira got transfered yesterday. So we sent our pleas to
President and he said we could go too. So we went and
had a marvelous time. We had to wake up at 5 am to get
there on time but all is well and we made it there and back
safe and without getting lost once.

Up until now I have gone through 6 companions and I´m
on my 7th in only 5 months. That sounds a little bad but
I´ve had one trio and one quartet. Ever heard of a quartet
before? Usually they would split them up into 2
companionships but we were a quartet. Kinda fun. But
now I´m just with the one sister. Sister Da Silva from
Rariama. I don´t think I spelled it right. She reminds me
of Becky cause she´s always cold. She used to live just a
little bit above the equator so she´s used to 40+ celcius...
whatever that is...

Our shower head has been in the process of breaking
for the past 2 weeks. You can adjust the temperature
by moving a little nob on the side. Sometimes the hot
water would stop so I would move the little nob and it
would work again. My companions weren´t so smart
as me. I didn´t realize it until it was too late. In the
mornings I always heard someone hammering and I
figured that someone was working on a house nearby.
Then one morning I realized the hammering only started
when one of my comps was taking a shower. Turns out
they were hitting the shower head with a brush everytime
the heat went out. Lol! But that didn´t work so they always
just took a cold shower. Then it broke. I asked why they
didn´t just wiggle the nob like a normal person and then
we measured how high they could reach and I´ve got a
good hand-span on all of them. Lol! But we gave the elders
a service project so it all turned out good with us having a
warm shower until this morning when I was taking a
shower and the power went out so I had to finish with
the icy water again.

I hope that everyone has started off the New Year well
and everyone enjoyed their break from working. Take
care and have fun. I miss you all and love you all lots and lots!

Love,
Shelle
