Hey all!
This week was one of a kind. This area is getting a little shut up now that winter is coming on. At least that´s what I tell myself. We had a hard time teaching anyone... They weren´t on the streets and when we tried to find them in their houses that didn´t work either. Even the people we knew didn´t have time to hear our message. So, we thought it over this weekend and we decided that we will have to get really creative. When everything isn´t working out we will knock doors and ask for water or to use the bathroom. Then when we´re done we will make friends and give a message and hopefully we will find lots of people that are willing to help out two sad-looking missionaries on the street.
We had a family home evening with the 1st counselor of the stake presidency (Carneiro) and they wanted to play tricks on each other after the lesson. So they asked if we knew any and so I thought of the "measuring for a coffin." Carneiro volunteered for it and man in was funny. If you know this trick you can imagine, the missionaries pulling this off on someone in the stake presidency. If you don´t know it I hope that one day you can be familiar with it. It´s great!
The same night that we were playing these tricks the grandma in the house almost died. She started choking, the type of choking where no air is coming or going. She was panicking, everyone else was panicking, I was speaking english, and she was turning purple. Carneiro did the himellic (I know the spelling is horible) and she started breathing again. She was gratefull that she hadn´t beem home alone when this happenen because she was sure she would have died. I then thought everyone how to do the hymlyc (lol) to themselves with a chair. For those of you that thought maybe it would be me, Miss CNA, so save the Brasilian woman think again... The woman was panicked enough to notice where everyone was and so when all was said and done she asked me why I was standing back in the corner and not helping. Lol! Carneiro was doing the himilic, Luana was patting her back, Sister Amancio was catching the food and I was standing back giving space trying to think of health terms in Portuguese. I told her 3 was more than suficient and 4 was just ridiculous. Lol! But now that it´s over and she´s alive, we all laugh about it and she makes fun of me for leaving her to die. It´s a good thing she likes me. Also as a side note...She said she wanted to loose weight so I told her she couldn´t eat anything after 8. (a big improvement from 10:30-11 pm.) 7:59 pm she went to the kitchen and said if she starts before 8 it doens´t count. 8:05 pm she choked. After wards she said she didn´t want to eat anymore. Lol! I hope she learned her lesson.
I hope that everyone is enjoying themselves now that school is getting close to being out. Enjoy that lovely warm weather. Have a good week!
Love,
Shelle
